Amber, Red & Brown
Amber beers are made with a smallish amounts of roast or cara malts, which can add anything from burnt toast to caramel to the aroma and flavour. Most ambers come from Belgium, where they also have a strong fruit character that comes from their unique yeast strains. Famous Belgian amber beers include Bruges Zot Brun and De Konink. Brown Ales contain small amounts of even slightly further roasted malt bringing evn more body, depth and sweet complexities.
